The LC - Research

Route of the eye: following the route of the eye we can see that it runs through the masthead, image, and also the ‘Plus’ sections the final place it runs through it the terminal optical area.
Terminal optical area: the college logo is featured in the terminal optical area because this is the last thing people will see and they will see it and remember it.
Colour scheme: the colours used are mostly dark shades with red and white being the dominant colours. The image and text both follow this colour scheme.
Image: the image is a asymmetrical image, as it is to the side of the page, to leave the left hand side of the page clear for cover lines. The image is of a footballer which will only appeal to a certain target audience.
Masthead: The masthead is very basic and uses a simple font and colour but stands out well from the backing image.
Language: The language used on this front cover suggests that the magazine is made by students and would also have a target audience of the students and not the parents. The line ‘we grill the student governors’ suggests this the most.
Layout: the layout of this magazine is basic and not much is put onto the cover. It also hasn’t got the ‘professional’ look suggesting that the target audience isn’t one that expects a high quality finish.

Route of the eye: the route of the eye runs through both of the images on the contents page, through all of the text and finishes in the terminal optical area.
Terminal optical area: the terminal optical area is used for the college details. This probably wouldn’t really appeal to their audience but would stick in peoples mind as it is in a noticeable area on the contents page.
Images: two images are used on the contents page, one of the principle, above the note from the principle and another relating to an image from the list of articles.
List of articles: the list of articles is in a very basic column which makes it very ordered and easy to read. The colours used are very plain but this makes it easier to read for the audience.
